Ehren Elder
I grew up in a big, lively family as one of eight kids, five of whom are adopted. Family’s always been a huge part of my life, and now, my wife, Elizabeth, and I are thrilled to have welcomed our baby daughter, Kit, into the family.
I did my undergrad at USC (go Trojans!), majoring in Economics. I somehow managed to catch four of USC’s most disappointing football years—but on the bright side, it’s also where I met Elizabeth. Later, I went on to earn an MBA from Stanford, which was an even rougher football experience.
After USC, I interned at the White House on the National Economic Council, then jumped into consulting at Bain & Company. I lived out of a suitcase, advising clients across retail, energy, and software. I had pig’s ears while working in Arkansas and endured a long, cold winter in Calgary.
Next, I joined Airbnb to work on their luxury homes business, where I had the chance to launch a new exclusive homes product. From there, I moved into Private Equity investing at Golden Gate Capital (Services) and later Permira (Tech). I led investments in retail, car wash, oil services, and information services and most importantly met Joe.
Joe would tell you that I graduated Phi Beta Kappa from USC and was an Arjay Miller Scholar (top 10%) at Stanford. He’d also say I never turn down a bike ride—he’s not wrong about that.
